The BBC lives up to its reputation as one of the best news sources worldwide with BBC Radio 5 Live, a radio station devoted to the best in news, sports, and culture. With programs offering commentary on everything from social issues to politics to the latest football match, BBC 5 Live is some of the best talk radio available today.

Sport fans will find no shortage of good coverage on 5 Live, with three of the topmost channels – 5 Live Formula One, Golf, and Sport – showing off the latest in the Grand Prix, golfing and general sports arenas. Football, of course, has its own station at the 606, with the UK’s biggest phone-in and all the news you need on your favorite teams, players, and games. Sportsweek features Garry Richardson as he interviews the biggest names in sport, and the Monday Night Club hosts debates on the footballing issues of the week. Cricket fans should tune in for Darren Gough as the former England fast bowler brings his expertise on the sport to bear on recent matches and players.

5 Live doesn’t skimp on the news coverage either, featuring a slew of programs that revel in debate and lively commentary from experts in every field. Tune in for Fighting Talk as Colin Murray gives other pundits a run for their money as they vie for dominance, or kick back with the mischievous Richard Bacon as he brings an offbeat take on the day’s news. Simon Mayo offers debate and analysis in a more subdued tone as he interviews the big names in news, sports and entertainment, and Stephen Nolan ups the lively chat with his show. If it’s straight news updates you’re looking for, you’ll find it in the Breakfast series every day of the week, with an overview of what’s happening in news, sports, weather, and the financial world.

Entertainment has its moments in the sun on 5 Live as well, with Mark Kermode’s Film Reviews, where you can find out if the latest blockbuster is all it’s cracked up to be. Other programs worth tuning in for include Wake Up to Money, with the news on what’s happening in the business and investment world, and Donal MacIntyre as he presents hard-hitting investigation and original journalism.
